Brief Biography of Professor Khalid Ahmad Habib

Associate Professor Khalid Ahmad Habib, son of Dr. Nazar Mohammad Habib Ahmadzai, was born in 1990 (1369 Hijri Solar) in the village of Mahlan, located in the center of Gardez, Paktia Province. Because of his enlightened and knowledge-loving family, he was drawn to both mosque-based and modern education from early childhood, a path he has remained steadfast on ever since.

Professor Habib has spent his entire life immersed in the realms of knowledge, literature, culture, and the arts. For many years, he has dedicated himself to the education and development of the people, especially Afghan youth. Through his professional passion and relentless academic efforts, he has earned a distinguished reputation throughout the country and has reached the pinnacle of his academic and cultural prominence.

Education

Professor Khalid Ahmad Habib completed his primary education at Abdul Hai Gardizi High School in Gardez. He then earned his bachelor’s degree in Journalism and Communications from the Faculty of Languages and Literature at Sheikh Zayed University.

However, his academic journey did not end there. Determined to pursue higher education, he traveled abroad and obtained his Master's degree in Public Administration from Career Point University in the Indian city of Deccan. His achievements further added to his family’s pride and honor.

Owing to his relentless pursuit of excellence, he has also completed numerous short- and long-term academic training programs and has continuously strived to deepen his knowledge and expertise.

Professional Background

Professor Habib has over eleven years of professional experience working with both national and international institutions across various fields. He has served in prominent positions including department head, faculty dean, and committee member at multiple levels. Some of his key professional roles include:

  • Journalist and Head of the News Department at Zhwandoon Radio
  • Analyst and Commentator with the IWPR Organization (2014)
  • Media Trainer for journalists under the UNESCO capacity-building programs
  • Lecturer and Head of the Journalism and Communications Department at the Faculty of Languages and Literature, Paktia University (2014–2025)
  • Member of various scientific, financial, and technical committees at both faculty and university levels
  • Active Member and Evaluator of the Quality Assurance and Accreditation Committee of Paktia University
  • Contributor to strategic planning, monitoring, and evaluation in multiple academic and administrative roles
  • Pioneer in cultural, media, civic, and social engagement and activities

Given his vast academic, literary, and cultural background and extensive professional experience, the leadership of the National Institute of Higher Education decided to appoint Professor Khalid Ahmad Habib as its President. Based on official letter No. 1516 dated 1404/1/25 (April 2025) from the Ministry of Higher Education, he was formally introduced as the President of the National Institute of Higher Education.
