Lithium; A New Strategic Opportunity in Afghanistan’s Foreign Policy - Scientific-Research Seminar Presented
A
scientific-research seminar was held under the auspices of the Diplomacy
Institute of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, focusing on the relationship
between strategic natural resources and foreign policy. The seminar was
presented by Aziz Ahmad Fazli, Director of Research and the Scientific Journal
of Mili University.
The
seminar, titled “Global Appeal of Lithium and Strategic Opportunities for
Afghanistan’s Foreign Policy,” was attended by Associate Professor
Khalid Ahmad Habib, Chancellor of Mili University, Mufti Noorullah Azam,
Director General of the Diplomacy Institute of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ubaidullah Akhundzada, Deputy Director for Academic Affairs of the
institute, staff from various departments of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs,
university professors, and numerous academic and professional figures.
During
the seminar, Mr. Fazli analytically explained the global significance of
lithium, its role in shaping the new energy equation, and the emerging
dimensions of competition among world powers. He emphasized that lithium is a
fundamental element in the transformation toward clean energy and the
advancement of modern technologies, holding a special place in the evolving
structure of the global economy and politics.
He
further stressed that Afghanistan, possessing significant lithium reserves, can
create new opportunities for regional and international cooperation through a
balanced and active foreign policy. According to him, effective management of
natural resources, evidence-based policymaking, strengthening economic
diplomacy, and expanding energy diplomacy can transform Afghanistan into a key
hub for regional connectivity, economic growth, and global engagement.
At
the conclusion of the seminar, participants shared their views and questions
regarding the topic and described such academic discussions as highly valuable.
