Abstract:
Introduction: Cigarette’s smoking is associated with serious illness of human health, which effect lungs, cardiac, oral cavity and other organs. Yearly approximately millions of people experienced mortality each year, that make cigarette smoking a major health concern. Due in great part to Afghanistan's low tobacco taxation, it plays the dual role of both importer and exporter.
Objective: The purpose of this study was to determine how common smoking was among students living in Kabul's central dorm. A descriptive cross-sectional design was used in the investigation. Students were given a pre-designed questionnaire in order to gather data.
Methods: Microsoft Excel was used to analyze the data.
Results: The findings shows that 62 students (20. 26%), including 36 from Kabul University and 26 from Kabul Medical University, smoked in the central dormitory. Fifteen people were categorized as high, 39 as medium, and seven as poor in terms of economic position. Furthermore, 28 people (45. 16%) said they wanted to stop smoking, 7 of whom (25%) were able to do so, and 21 of whom (75%) started smoking again. About 240 people abstained from smoking. Several smokers reported respiratory problems, while a small percentage claimed significant health problems, including cardiovascular problems and other disorders.
